This post is right on time as we are entering into a new year.
Whether you are new to blogging or have been blogging for years- taking time off from blogging is necessary and sometimes inevitable.
Benefits of taking time off from blogging
Since I began blogging in 2007 I have taken multiple breaks. Some lasting a few days to several years. Taking a break allows you to refresh your vision and mission when it comes to blogging.
Most importantly, taking a break can allow you to rethink the direction of your blog.
Taking time off from blogging may even encourage you to rebrand your blog.
Have you recently taken time off from blogging? Are you feeling motivated to jump back into blogging in 2022?
If your answer is “yes”, then you have stumbled across the right blog post.
I am ready to share with you some useful tips that will show you how to jump back into blogging.
5 Tips on how to jump back into blogging after taking time off from blogging
1. Refresh old blog posts to get more page views
The first step you must take to jump back into blogging is to refresh old blog posts to get more page views.
The best blogging tip and secret that I can share is how important it is to create evergreen content. Evergreen content is content that does not die. For example, older blog posts that are SEO-friendly and continuously relevant.
If you create evergreen content that continues to attract new readers and is continuously getting you more page views, you will be a successful blogger.
Your focus should not solely be on creating new content. It’s wasteful to forget about older blog posts that you have worked so hard on.
As you get back into the swing of blogging a great first step is to review your older blog posts and update them. This will also help you if you are experiencing writer’s block.

2. Create a new blogging strategy
It’s important to jump back into blogging with a new blogging strategy.
Be honest with yourself. Are your current strategies working?
Blogging is an ever-evolving hobby and business.
Creating a new blogging strategy is just what you need as you make your comeback.
Create a list of some possible blog topics.
A blogging strategy that I have found to be successful is asking my followers on social media (twitter- follow me here) what topic they would like to read about.
Your followers and readers are your best resource when it comes to creating content. Keep that into consideration as you create a new blogging strategy.
And don’t forget that your blogging strategy also relates to how you are branding your images, pinterest pins, and even how you promote your blog posts.
3. Commit to a blogging schedule
One of the reasons why I have in the past taken a break from blogging is due to lack of time management.
Blogging is a commitment and it requires creating a blogging schedule.
Review your calendar, take into consideration your daily schedule. Whether, you work full-time, part-time, or unemployed you must determine how many days or hours weekly you have to commit to blogging.
Creating a blogging schedule will help you get back into the routine of blogging.

It’s just as important to give as much focus on social media as it is your blog.
Make sure you are utilizing your social media platforms to promote your blog posts. This is a great way to promote your content to new readers and gain new followers.
4. Connect with a blogging community and meet new people
Connecting with a blogging community and meeting new people will bring so much more to your blogging experience.
Blogging alone and without being connecting with a blogging community is boring. By being a part of a blogging community, where bloggers support eachother and share their content it is very motivating.
There is so much you can learn from others and the support that comes from being a part of a blogging community is what everyone needs. It’s the accountability and sharing of tips and strategies is what will keep you going.
After taking time off from blogging, connecting with a group of likeminded bloggers is a great way for you to get connected and recommitted to blogging.
5. Announce your return after taking time off from blogging
Create a post announcing your return to your subscribers and followers. Be sure to update it on your blog and social media platforms
Transparency is something everyone values.
You never know who you might inspire with a post announcing your return. Your followers also may have fallen off from a personal goal or project and sharing your experience and recommittment to your passion can inspire so many others.
Announcing your return is also a great new start to let your subscribers and followers know what to expect from you in the days or weeks to come.
This is a perfect time to share your blogging schedule, or at the least set an expectation of how often you will post. Keep your readers in the loop so they will know what to expect.

Now it’s time for you to put these 5 useful tips to work and jump back into blogging. If you are even considering jumping back into blogging after time off, you must have a true passion for it.

number three is hands down my hardest! when I first started blogging a year ago. I would just randomly post whenever inspiration struck, now I have a weekly that drops every monday and working to get in a schedule with a second that will drop every other thursday. it’s definitely easier to stay on schedule when I’m not juggling my school schedule and my son’s – and that is where the beauty of working ahead and scheduling posts has worked wonders for me. this was a really great read, Im going to try and out a few more of your tips to use and see if it helps ease my blogger anxiety

Working ahead is key! It really helps out when things come up and can potentially get you off track. We can’t control what life tosses our way, but we can plan for times like that. Having content ready to go is always nice to fall back on, especially if inspiration doesn’t strike one week.
Thank you for reading.
