The secret to success as a blogger is to create and manage a blog and social media calendar weekly.
Have you ever considered planning out your blog and social media content? I have found so much success and a boost in productivity from the moment I created a calendar to manage my blog and social media weekly.
As a blogger, I have so many roles. Aside from being a blogger, I am a content creator, social media marketer, advertiser, and graphic designer.
(And let’s not forget that I am also a full-time mommy and wife)
Having so many roles and shoes to fill can be so overwhelming to manage.
Just think for a moment, being a blogger is not just about writing a blog post. Not only am I creating content but I have to promote it and create graphics for my content.
While being a blogger is not an easy job it’s fulfilling and worth it when you see your content being shared across many platforms by many. Knowing that others are benefiting from my content makes being a blogger worth it.
Today, I am sharing with you how to create and manage your blog and social media on a weekly basis.
Hopefully, this post will inspire you to create a plan of your own. Let me know what you think in the comments.
6 Steps to Create and Manage Your Blog and Social Media Weekly
1. Plan and Determine your posting frequency
The first step is to determine your posting frequency. How often do you want to post on your blog?
Starting out my goal was to blog 3 times per week. But after trial and error, I have decided based on my analytics that it’s more beneficial to post 1 quality post per week, rather than 3 posts.
You may be wondering why? Well, since I have started posting 1 blog post per week I now have more time to promote my post throughout the week and manage other blogging tasks.
Once you have determined your posting frequency the next step is to review your analytics. Determine when your audience is most active. That is the time when you want to publish your blog post, in order to get the most engagement.
2. Plan to Share your blog post on social media
Planning to share your blog post on social media is an important and time-consuming task. This is where time management and managing a calendar comes into place.
The easiest way to plan and share your blog post on social media is to pick a day or two out of the week to focus solely on social media promotion.
3. Decide and plan a day to reply to blog and social media comments
Replying to blog and social media comments with meaningful purpose is will help you to create a build engagement within your blogging community.
The goal is to turn your readers into returning visitors and subscribers. Aside from replying to blog and social media comments. I found that visiting blogs and social media accounts of others and engaging with their content has also created loyalty and support.
This is also an opportunity to create a presence online within your blogging community. For every comment, you leave you are pushing your name and blog URL out there for others to discover.
4. Create and Plan new Pins for Blog Posts
One day out of the week I schedule a time to create and plan new pins for blog posts. For each blog post, I create 4-5 pins that I share throughout the week on Tailwinds and Pinterest.
You can try Tailwinds for FREE for 1 month. Sign up here.
Creating new pins brings a variety to your post. Pinterest is a platform that appeals visually to readers. I have found a boost of engagement by planning new pins for my blog posts.
Designing new and multiple pin designs for a blog post is one of the best ways to drive consistent traffic to your blog post.
Canva is the go-to tool that I use to create all of my graphics. And it’s so easy to find a quick Pinterest template.
5. Study Analytics- Analyze your blog traffic
So, you now have an understanding of how to create and manage your blog and social media weekly. Creating and promoting content is important but so is also analyzing your blog traffic.
Why is analyzing your blog traffic so important? It’s important because if you know what posts or topics are performing well, you then have the key to success.
Once you identify which posts are performing well, those are the type of posts you want to continue creating.
I created a blog post that covers identifying your blog purpose and target audience which will help you to attract engaged readers. You can read that post here:
The goal is to focus on creating content that will perform well. A good tip is to reach out and connect with your readers. You will get the best feedback from your readers.
6. Set time aside to Research and Engage
There is so much that we can learn from others. Only if we set time aside to research and engage.
Take some time out to gain advice from the experts. Research and engage with other bloggers to see what is working or not working for them.
Listen to a podcast. Take notes and apply the strategies that you learn.
I promise that if you set time aside to research and engage you will notice a difference in your blog’s performance.
Now that you know the secret to success as a blogger. And you know how important it is to create and manage a blog and social media calendar weekly.
All you have to do is repeat these 6 Steps to Create and Manage your Blog and Social Media Weekly.
Last but not least, don’t forget to schedule time into your weekly schedule to stay up to date on your admin work as a blogger. This includes ensuring your plugins are updated.
And if you don’t already pay for a service that backs up your blog automatically please be sure to back up your blog often if not daily.
I am so happy that I was able to share with you ways to be a more productive blogger.

In my 5 mos of blogging, I can agree to the importance of creating and managing your content weekly! It’s true — its not just about writing content but also promoting it and making people want to click it across various social media sites. This article is very helpful for me, Erica! We have a similar weekend schedule except that I write blog posts everywhere, anywhere (I’m training myself so it would be easier for me to produce blog posts). Thank you so much for sharing xx

Monique,
Writing blog posts everywhere is a great strategy! The more you can get caught up on your post it’s so much easier to plan your content. This really comes in handy on the days and weeks when you don’t have the energy to write or even when other things come up that prevent you from blogging.
I am so happy that you found my article helpful.

This is a wonderful post! When I first started blogging, I used to post 3 times a week, but now I post once a week so I have more time to work on the post & also promote it. I also usually set time aside on Sundays to reply to blog & social media comments.
bloglifewitherica
Hi Karalee,
I love that you have a schedule. Your schedule looks a lot like mine. Promotion throughout the week for your new content is so important, and I think many bloggers overlook this.
Sundays are my reply to comment days.

Great post! This is one of my biggest struggles as a blogger, being able to manage my blog and social media. I am getting a little bit better, but I often feel overwhelmed. These tips are amazing! I love the idea of just focusing on one task each day. That makes the whole thing seem much more doable! Thanks for sharing!

This post is very helpful! balancing your life around social media as a blogger can be challenging. i’m someone who really wants to remain present & intentional with my time. scheduling out my tweets, posts etc really helps with that. i can be engaging with my audience but also feel like i’m not sitting on social media for hours. 🙂
bloglifewitherica
It’s impossible for me to sit on socials for hours. I am married with multiple kids. I just can’t do it. Scheduling out my content is a lifesaver. And it doesn’t interfere with my family time and even my “me” time. “Me” time is also important to work into your schedule. As a blogger, we deserve it too. Blogging is hardwork.

I see that you are a tea enthusiast, too!! Awesome. These are great tips! One thing I need to get better at is posting each blog post on social media and then creating additional pins for Pinterest. Also, I have got to get more consistent with FB and IG. Working on it. But having a schedule would help, so I really appreciate this post and your ideas!
bloglifewitherica
I am absolutely a tea enthusiast! I am happy you found my tips helpful. First starting out I took the advice of a blogger of the content bug that recommended to master one social media before moving on to multiples. Once I mastered managing my Twitter I then began focusing on other social media platforms.
One thing for sure, having a schedule is what makes things happen. Without planning… a lot of things just wouldn’t get done.

Thank you for the gems . I heard of tailwind but I didn’t actually try it before. I’m about to relaunch my blog and go back to blogging full time and I’m trying to make sure I am organized this time around because a few months ago I was so overwhelmed I couldn’t keep up with blogging my life and everything else. I definitely am going to try these out thank you !

This is a really useful post! As a new blogger, I feel like I have been winging it and so far, it has gone surprisingly well. Despite that, I know I need to start managing my blog and social media in a more organized way. Your tips are helpful. Especially the last one, I feel like I need to do more research and this is an excellent starting place for me. Thank you!

I love that you felt out what was working and went for one post a week as opposed to three! I started four years ago pumping out poetry every single day. It was draining and soon stopped giving me a reason to smile.
Now-days I do two posts a week and try to mix up what I publish throughout the month for a nice mix of how-to’s, poetry, and short stories. Finding a balance is important, so I love your tips for helping that happen.
bloglifewitherica
Hi Jaya,
It’s absolutely important to find balance. One thing that I have learned is that if something is not working, do something about it. I enjoy blogging too much to allow it to drain me. So I had to make an adjustment. Blogging is supposed to fulfill me.

This is great! I’ve been a full-time blogger for nearly six years and now I’m also a full-time social media manager for several local businesses. It’s a LOT to try and schedule everything out while making time for rest and self-care, but it’s really important too. I feel like I’ve only just gotten to a place where things are organized in a way that allows me to be productive but not so busy I can’t make time for myself or my “normal life.” You did a great job with these tips!
bloglifewitherica
Hi Stephanie!
Thank you so much for stopping by. I am so happy that you found these tips also to be helpful. The biggest challenge is making sure you keep balance. Managing a schedule has made sure that I keep that balance and make time for what is important. Self-care is definitely one of those important things that we must make time for.
