6 Simple Way to Go Green at Home
1. Recycle when possible
A simple easy way to go green at home is to recycle when possible. When you recycle paper products it reduces the number of trees that will be destroyed.
Your decision to recycle may seem like a small task. But, it truly does help support and keep our ecosystem intact. The goal is to protect our environment but not destroying natures natural habitat.
Another benefit of recycling is the surplus of trees which are used to absorb carbon dioxide in the air. The trees also are saved and are then able to continue to release oxygen back into the air.
2. Avoid using plastic bags
As much as possible avoid using plastic bags. Opt for a reusable bag option when shopping. Reusable bags are way more durable and purposeful compared to plastic or paper bags.
Using a reusable bag is one of the best ways to reduce your footprint in the environment.
If you cannot avoid using plastic bags, make sure you are repurposing them. For example, I reuse all plastic grocery bags as trash can liners in the bathroom. After using them I discard them into the recycle.

3. Replace all light bulbs to LED
Replacing all light bulbs with eco-friendly LED light bulbs is another simple way for you to go green at home.
The benefits of using LED light bulbs are that they last longer, are brighter, and are more energy-efficient.
4. Opt to use washable hand towels over paper towels
I find that it’s so rare that you find washable hand towels in kitchens or bathrooms. But, you will definitely find them at my house.
I opt to use washable hand towels over paper towels to cut down on waste. Investing in washable hand towels is a more simple way to go green and prevent waste of paper.
When reused and ready to wash it’s so easy to use toss a washable hand towel in the wash, making it simple to continue to reuse. This is worth is compared to purchasing and tossing paper towels with each use. This is so wasteful.
When you buy paper towels you are literally spending money just to toss them in the trash. Invest in a reusable and washable paper towel option, you can really find some great quality reusable paper towels.

5. Unplug and turn off devices when not in use
Using less electrical energy is important if you are seeking to go green at home. Using less energy at home will cut down drastically on greenhouse gas emissions.
Unplug any devices that are not in use. Turn off lights after you leave out of a room.
Making small changes like this will get you in the habit of cutting down on electrical costs and energy use which will overall make a difference within the environment- thanks to your help and efforts.
6. Reserve and save water
A simple way that you can reserve and save water is by turning off the faucet when you are actively brushing your teeth. Only turning to water on when you need to rinse your mouth or toothbrush.
Everyone loves a long shower every once in a while. But remember the environment and the impact you have on it the next time you are just standing under the showerhead, allowing the water to carelessly run.
Taking shorter showers can reduce water waste. Because water waste is important too.
If you are purchasing packs of water, consider investing in a reusable water bottle and purchasing a water filter to use. This decreases the amount of plastic being used. Since making this switch I’ve noticed that I have saved money and I am drinking more water daily.
