So many people think that they are a bad writer. Well, it doesn’t take a English Major or expert writer to be a successful and trusted blogger. No worries, I am going to share with you How to Write a Blog Post Worth Reading.
I will be covering how to structure your blog post and also how to write amazing content that a reader would find it work reading.
To write a blog post worth reading this is all you need to do:
To begin, all I need for you to gather before reading any further is a good idea worth blogging about and head over to grammarly and download the best FREE spellcheck on the market.
Blogging starts with a good idea and to make it worth reading we have to make sure it’s structured to appeal to readers and that it is easy to follow and read- free of errors.
I am going to guide you through my process of how I write a blog post that people find worth reading.
How to structure the perfect blog post
So, you have decided to start blogging. But you just don’t know where to begin.
A well structured blog post can improve your SEO (search engine optimization) and potentially rank your post higher in search engines compared to others content.

Another plus side of structuring your blog post is that readers will find your content easier to read, which is what will keep them on your page. No one wants to read dense text. Improving the user experience by adding some graphics and visuals is always a strategy I like to use when structuring my blog posts.
Overall, when blogging there is a basic method that should be followed in order to structure the perfect blog post.
Check out this checklist I have created for you:
Let’s dive in!
Title
Picking an amazing title (headline) is very important when drafting your blog post. Your title will make the first impression of your blog to your reader.
The title is the first thing the reader will see. Along with your meta description which is a snippet of your post, often times your introduction. So, you have to make your title enticing in order to attract the reader to want to click to read more.
Your title MUST be an attention grabber. It also needs to clearly inform your reader about the content that they are going to read. It must be relevant to your topic, the problem you are solving and the solution.
Your title is your H1 header and most themes will auto default the title section as your H1 header.
Introduction
After your title, is your introduction. Your introduction is the follow up to your title and the second chance at grabbing your readers attention.
When writing a blog post worth reading the introduction is where you will introduce your reader a little deeper into the topic. It’s also a opportunity for you to connect the reader to your post and share with them how they will benefit from this post.
The goal of creating a attention grabbing introduction is to obtain the readers interest. Your introduction does not need to be wordy. I wouldn’t recommend writing more than 1-3 sentences. Keep it short, sweet, and to the point.
Here are some ideas to consider including when writing your introduction:
- Start by asking a question: This will create a connection between the reader and the content.
- Make the content relatable: Readers want to feel like they can relate to what they are reading.
- Write short sentences: Short sentences are much easier to read and follow. You don’t want to lose the attention of the reader.
Body
The body of your blog post is where the reader will find the solution to the problem presented. This is your time to deliver all of what you promised in the title and introduction.
Click bait is not something we do in the blogging community. It’s not welcomed, and is bad practice. Never write false titles that does not produce results or relevant content in the body of your blog post.
When writing your blog post avoid writing in large chunks of text. Break up your text with visuals (images, etc.).
Make sure each each block of text has no more than 3-5 sentences. You can even throw in some bold, italics, or underline to capture your readers eyes to important words within your content.
Also, make sure you break up your body text with headers as needed to provide separation in topic. When separating the body text with H3 headers be sure to be providing readers with valuable content.
Most importantly, keep your blog format consistent from beginning to end. You can be sure to remain consistent in your layout and format if you follow the checklist I have provided above.
Writing the perfect blog post requires you to structure your blog post with a format that gives your reader an idea of what they will be reading next. It also provides a nice overview for readers who may still be on the fence about reading. Creating headers will allow readers to easily skim your blog post.
Ultimately, creating a well structured body text within your blog post will improve the readers experience by creating a flow.
Conclusion
Following the amazing content you have created, you really have to conclude with not only a bang but with a call to action.
Your conclusion should be a summary of all of the important points that you want your reader to be clear on.
Remember, the conclusion is not a opportunity and not the place to provide readers with any additional or new information that was not already previously mentioned. So, avoid this.
When writing your conclusion you can use this time to motivate your readers to achieve the solution you presented in your blog post.
The conclusion is your opportunity to provide the reader with some encouragement to take action now.
Call to action
This is when a call to action comes in. A call to action is when you ask the reader to do something.
Whether it is to try a tip you mentioned or to like, subscribe, or follow your blog. At the end of your conclusion is where you can plug in your call to action.
This is a great time to also include some internal links to other relevant blog posts on your blog or you can link to an external site that is relevant or helpful.
That’s it- there you have it!
This is how I write and structure my blog posts that people find worth reading.
Useful Tips to Follow:
- Don’t forget to download the FREE spellcheck program grammarly. It’s a great tool to use in order to write, clear, concise and error free content.
- Blog posts are recommended to be at least 1,000 words. The more words, the higher your chances of ranking higher in search engines.
- Forget everything you learned about writing in English class. Blog posts are an acceptable place to write short sentences and short paragraphs. The goal is to create content that is easy to read.
- Use visuals such as images and graphics to liven up your content and to provide additional value. Images should also be used to break up dense text.
- Use bold or italics to grab your readers attention and emphasis keywords.
- Always include a image for Pinterest sharing.
- Write for SEO. Yoast SEO Premium is my most used WordPress plug in and in my option it is essential for blogging.

This is a very helpful blog post especially for people just starting out. I am actually going back and editing and updating older content from 4 years ago. As blog posts are supposed to have at least 1200 words for it to be counted as good quality and some posts didn’t even reach half ha ha! It is nice to see how far I have come though.
Thank you for sharing.

Hi,
Thank you for reading. Yes, introductions are important. If I preview a post and the introduction is not catching I often just exit right off the page.

These are all really great tips for creating a perfect blog post. A call to action is always really handy.
bloglifewitherica
Hi Kayleigh,
When I first started blogging I did not use a call to action. It wasn’t until last year when I became familiar with the phrase. Since learning about what a call to action is in blogging… I have noticed an increase in engagement. So, it’s definitely something that is a must to include when writing your blog post.
