As a blogger, Twitter is my #1 platform that I use to reach my targeted audience and share my content. I am going to share with you 5 Reasons Why Every Blogger Should Use Twitter.
What is Twitter?
Twitter is an American microblogging and social platform used for networking. Twitter has about 321 million active users. And Twitter was created so users can post and interact with each other through “tweets”. Tweets are limited to 140 characters. Users can also post, like, and retweet others.
The main purpose of twitter is a social media platform that allows people to connect and share their thoughts with a bigger audience.
5 Reasons Why Every Blogger Should Use Twitter
I have yet to write a post specifically about Twitter. So, here we go. I am blogging today to share with you why I think Twitter is one of the best social media platforms for Bloggers. Along, with 5 Reasons Why Every Blogger Should Use Twitter.
I have had a few blogger friends who just don’t use Twitter as their main platform and I just down see why not. I contribute to the growth of my blog and network of blogging friends to Twitter.
The moment I began using Twitter as one of my main social media platforms for my blog is when I began watching my blog views increase and my engagement skyrocket. This includes an increase in subscribers, increased blog post shares, and comments.
Most importantly as a blogger establishing and connecting with other bloggers is important and Twitter has connected me with so many other like-minded bloggers and content creators. This is something every blogger needs. So, let’s dive in- 5 Reasons Why Every Blogger Should Use Twitter.
1. Drive blog traffic
Bloggers rely on social media to self promote their blog and content. Social media is the one tool that every blogger must use in order to share their work with as many people as possible.
Every blogger should use Twitter because it is one of the easiest platforms to navigate in order to drive your blog traffic. In reviewing my google analytics it identifies Twitter as one of my highest traffic sources.
In order to drive blog traffic by using Twitter, you have to tweet with strategy. I plan out my main tweets daily and at least 1-2 tweets minimum will contain a link to one of my latest blog posts. This ensures that I keep my content circulating to new and existing followers in order to continue to drive my blog traffic for both new and old content.
2. Network and Grow Your Community
I must say that the biggest blogging network and community is on Twitter. No matter what type of blogger you are, you will find your niche blogging community on Twitter. And there is always room to grow your own community on Twitter.
My favorite part about Twitter is that it is a platform that makes it so easy to network and connect with my target audience. For example, creating a blog post like this is targeted towards other bloggers. On Twitter I can make this post easy to find for bloggers by using simple hashtags like:
- #socialmediatips
- #bloggers
- #boostengagement
- #drivetraffic
- #network
Using hashtags makes it easier for others to find my content and connect with me. As a result, driving my blog traffic and boosting engagement.
Networking and growing your community is important for bloggers no matter what stage of blogging you are current in (new or old).
3. Real-time engagement
Unlike other social media platforms, the algorithm on Twitter has rarely changed over the years. What I enjoy the most about Twitter is that no matter when I log on and view my timeline the engagement is always in real-time.
I feel more connected with my network and established a community of followers on Twitter compared to other platforms. I honestly feel like I miss less. In comparison to platforms such as Instagram where you only see popular posts of those you follow and or interact with the most.
As a blogger when sharing my content I feel confident in knowing that my post will be shared with my followers in real-time with no delay. There is no algorithm I have to figure out in order to get my tweet viewed on my follower’s timeline.
4. Participate in blogger or writer lifts
On Twitter, you can pretty much tweet and share what you want. You can create your own chats among those you follow and if you tweet something “worth sharing” you may get a lot of likes and re-tweets.
I really enjoy creating and participating in blogger and writer lifts on Twitter. A blogger and write lift is a tweet that calls for all bloggers and or writers to drop their links as a reply and it creates a chain of links for everyone to share and follow.
Blogger and writer lifts are fun and it’s a great way to drive your blog traffic, network, and grow your community. All while meeting and connecting with new and like-minded people. I have met some really amazing bloggers and content creators by creating blogger and writer lifts.
5. Share content
On Twitter of course you can share your own content which is great. But it’s just as important to share the content of others. In return often those bloggers will share your content too.
Bloggers need each other to grow and support each other. So, the next time you see a blogger post their latest on Twitter, go ahead and share their tweet, and don’t forget to shout them out. More than likely, they will return the favor and this will increase your blog traffic and attract new potential readers.
