8 Best Essential Oils
Essential oils are great natural solutions to self-care and contribute to your overall wellness. Adding these 8 essential oils will definitely help you relax and fall asleep faster.
1. Lavender
Lavender is one of the more popular essential oils. If you are looking for a calming scent this is it. The aroma is floral, light, and has some woody undertones.
I use to carry some lavender essential oils in my purse and dab it on my wrist throughout the day but since I have incorporated essential oils into my nightly routine- I have decided to keep it strictly for bedtime use.
Before bed I like to apply 1-2 drops on my wrist and the soles of my feet.
Lavender is also my go to on days when I have a headache.
2. Cedarwood
Cedarwood is another woodsy scent. And is even a anti-inflammatory.
I prefer to use this essential oil more at night on my workout days.
Cedarwood helps to relieve arthritis pain and also alleviates anxiety. Often times at night when you are struggling to sleep it can be due to anxiety.
This essential oil has healing properties that are beneficial for getting a goodnights rest.
3. Frankincense
Known as the King of the Oils- Frankincense is also a anti-inflammatory oil.
This essential oil is known for aiding in improving your gut health and asthma. These health issues can raise a problem and stand in the way of getting a restful night’s sleep.
Frankincense is also known as an essential oil that promotes stress reduction and relieves negative emotions from the body. These are all underlying issues that can keep you up at night.
4. Vetiver
Vetiver is an essential oil within the grass family. As you can imagine the scent is deep and rich.
The aroma from this oil is very calming and grounding.
Not only is this essential oil great to use at bedtime but it is also a great oil to use when massaging.
Another benefit of using this oil is improved breathing during your sleep. This will also help you wake up feeling more rested.
5. Marjoram
Marjoram symbolizes happiness among the essential oils. This oil has healing properties for pain relief. It also helps to reduce stress when applied to the back of your neck.
This essential oil is also one of my go-to after exercising and at bedtime. It’s perfect for relaxing your muscles after training.
6. Sandalwood
Sandalwood is a woody scent with a sweet and rich aroma.
Notable health benefits of this oil include: lowers blood pressure, lowers stress/anxiety, and improves memory.
7. Bergamot
Bergamot is a citrus oil. This oil acts as a powerful antidepressant. It does have some sedative qualities that promote a restful night’s sleep.
One thing I love about this oil is that it helps your body release pain, physically and emotionally. It’s a great stress reliever and aids in supporting your digestive health.
8. Patchouli
Patchouli is a herb from the mint family. It has a rich and sweet fragrance.
This oil helps to create a balance within you before bedtime. It aids in improving anxiety, mood, and overall mental clarity.
These essential oils have helped me so much that I couldn’t resist sharing with you the many healing properties as you journey to find your way to better sleep.
While my blog is opinion based I just want to remind you to please consult with your doctor before trying any of these essential oils.
Also, keep in mind what works for me may not work for you and of course, discontinue use if you notice any changes or if you experience an allergic reaction.
Thank you for reading. But, before you go please check out another helpful blog post:

I love the lavender scent! It smells so good & is indeed calming! I haven’t tried any of the others ones. I am not sure for the woody scent for the sandalwood oil but it is very beneficial which I love.
Do you have a favorite among these oils? Which one would you mostly recommend?
